About us

Our vision of making BioLNG a clean, safe and affordable biofuel is based on a foundation of scientific experience put into practice and personal aspiration. We understand that revolutionizing the energy market requires a realistic understanding of the current global fuel situation; you don’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been. That’s why we have assembled a robust team that covers all angles, from mechanical and chemical engineers to experts in the fields of business, law and finance.

Jerom van Roosmalen

Jerom van Roosmalen

PARTNER

Jerom is driven to make BioLNG mainstream. He is the initiator behind the unique Nordsol technology and built the first prototypes single-handedly in his own workshop. As the founder of Osomo in 2009 (later Nordsol), he competently turns core beliefs into practical solutions. Jerom holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSc).

Leon van Bossum

Léon van Bossum

PARTNER

Léon is determined to impact the energy transition. He finds partners to promote BioLNG as the key energy source for the heavy transport sector. Léon creates pragmatic business models for new BioLNG facilities. He has been a member of the Board of Directors with the Frames Group and holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering (BSc), Business Administration (MSc) and Finance (MSc).

Michiel van Aken

Michiel van Aken

PARTNER

Michiel is devoted to the development of sustainable biofuels. An expert in Gas&LNG plant design, he recognizes fundamental similarities between large-scale LNG and BioLNG. He started and operated an LNG plant in Oman for Shell, a company he worked with for over 22 years, and is committed to applying his in-depth knowledge and experience. Innovation is close to his heart, being (co)-author of 14 patents. Michiel holds a degree in Chemical Engineering (MSc).

Wouter Zijlmans

Wouter Zijlmans

PARTNER

Wouter connects the dots for the energy transition. Using existing infrastructure and technology, along with de-risking the business case are his tools to integrate biogas from waste into the fuel market. He has experience in strategy and finance, worked for a large bank and built his own company. Wouter holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering (MSc) and Law (MSc).

How Nordsol came to Life

It all started in 2009 when Jerom van Roosmalen founded Osomo to make a difference for sustainable mobility. The primary focus in the first years were Compressed Natural Gas (GNG) slow- and fastfill systems. These systems were intended for home and small business use. Soon enough the core beliefs of using biogas as a substitute for the Natural Gas began to surface.

This shift in thinking would later become the game changer to unlock sections of the fuel market. It was clear that biogas has the potential to be a full-fledged renewable substitute fuel and stimulate the energy transition for the heavy road transport sector.

In the following years, Osomo focused on developing practical technological solutions to convert biogas into BioLNG. This new path resulted in designing, building and operating multiple pilot plants, combined with the worldwide patented iLNG technology. Along the way, more professionals got inspired and joined the team. Nowadays all activities have been transferred and embedded in Nordsol, which is the ideal platform to grow the business.

What started out as an idea of a persistent believer has grown into a respectful company with a global network of customers and partners.
